BABO Project

Blended Multilingual Learning in Preschool Age
This project aims to improve the learning of a second language for children between 0 and 6 years of age.
The key? Teach it in a natural, engaging and personalized way for each student by adopting Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences.

This theory holds that each student has different intelligences, abilities and interests, so that the same learning can not be given in an identical way to all students.

Developing different educational materials to teach a second language to pre-school age students is essential for learning a second language.

And why not do it in an innovative way by offering educators and families of ECEC (early childhood education and care) new educational methodologies and digital resources?

Babo is a small dragon, our main charachter
It will be at the heart of the cartoon and application intended for the learning of a second language.
We are 9 partners in Europe : Autria, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal and Spain.
Together, we develop various types of resources
Specialized Educational Guides :
“Smart Makings” with the educational centres Mother Tongues (Ireland), Baby Erasmus (Spain), La Rueda Kindergarten (Austria) and Super Lexi (Belgium) develop a guide for teachers and families that will explain what multiple intelligences are and how to work with this tool. Together, we will also develop another activity guide adapted to the different intelligences of students, which teachers can use in the classroom to teach a second language.

Gamification :

The research group “NODO Educational” at the University of Extremadura, in collaboration with the Munster Tralee University of Ireland, will develop educational games for children to learn a second language on the Internet and other tools.
Cartoon :
The GLOW Animation Studio will create a series of 10-chapter cartoons from the activity book “BABO the Dragon” used by schools across Europe to teach English to children aged 2 to 5.
Application in the Education sector :

The international company based in Portugal “Tecnologias Imaginadas” will develop an Educational Application to learn a second language based on one of the games created by the UEX research group NODO Educative for children.

Here’s an overview of games & episodes designed for early foreign language learning.
